On April 12th, 1999 Mosoj Chaski began its first broadcast in Quechua. Since that time our audience has grown to over one million daily listeners. What has happened in the last 10 years is testimony to God's faithfulness and the prayers and support of His people.

Mosoj Chaski transmits on 3310 Khz , 90 meter band and reaches not only to the farthest corners of Bolivia, but also into Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil. We use an Omnitronix 10KW shortwave digital transmitter.

On weekdays, the Radio goes on air early in the morning (4.00am – 8.00am) and in the evening (6.pm – 10.00pm). All our programs are pre-recorded, and the broadcasting schedule is approximately 50% programs, 20% announcements and publicity and 30% Christian music. Our DJs come from the staff, with additional support from a team of volunteers.

On weekends the schedule is slightly different. Pre-recorded programs are replaced by live programs in which people can call in to the radio to send greetings to their family and friends living in remote areas of the country. Sunday morning is dedicated to music. Different Quechua Christian music groups visit the station to sing two or three songs live on the air.

One unique service that Mosoj Chaski provides is its personal messages. People dictate short messages which are then broadcast a number of times, for a small fee. Sometimes these are public announcements of an upcoming conference. Other times they are more personal, informing family that someone is sick, or someone is getting married. For many rural areas, this is the ONLY means of communicating a message to someone else.

We do air some commercial advertisement, however our audience consists of some of the poorest people in South America, so the market is limited.

The Quechuas’ poverty also makes it difficult for them to afford a short-wave radio. The Lord provided a valuable partner in Galcom International to help meet this need. Galcom produces small solar-powered, fixed frequency radios which are tuned to Mosoj Chaski’s frequency. These little red radios are always in high demand.
